Terra Consulting Group hit the ground running in December with five holiday parties and events that allowed us to spread joy and good tidings across the Midwest.
The first Saturday in December is reserved for the Terra Christmas party. Our Madison, Columbus and Nashville employees and their spouses came to Park Ridge to visit with the folks they talk to all year but never see! Work stops at 3:30 for a happy hour at Holt’s in Park Ridge. On Saturday, December 1st, back by popular demand, was Casino Night at Harry Caray’s in Rosemont! All enjoyed the delicious food and each other’s company at the largest company party to date. Then there was gambling for prizes that ranged from a 4G TV to buying Tom Z a 6-pack of beer. Stephen Sullivan had the line of the night when he said that he was winning the TV, and an hour later he won the TV. Good luck getting that TV back to Nashville, Stephen!
On Wednesday, December 5th, the Illinois State Wireless Association hosted its annual Holiday Gathering, where the big event is the Texas Hold ‘Em tournament. The ILSWA Party had hundreds of people in attendance. It’s always fun seeing your friends and colleagues and this event raises money for Misericordia Home in Chicago. Terra Consulting Group knows how to play poker. Of the 12 Terra employees in attendance, five were competing in the tournament. While Tom Zimmermann had won the event previously, he was on the sidelines this year as the night’s emcee as President of ILSWA. No matter—Fernando Hernandez won the event this year. Great work, Fernando!
The first Friday of December, which was December 7th this year, is reserved for Mike Elliott’s holiday party in which he invites the entire company to visit his swanky Wicker Park Townhome. Mike’s townhome has a rooftop deck which has the coolest view of the Loop. The view is so good, people don’t mind hanging out outside in December. Thanks, Mike and Liz for sharing your holiday cheer with us!
Also on Friday, December 7th, Tom and John Zimmermann went to Columbia, Missouri for the COMO Christmas party. This year’s party started with lunch at Broadway Brewery where Eric Ward, Zach Nikin, Bed Edes, Adam Brown, Tom and John got to reconnect. After some time in the office, we had drinks in The Vault in the Tiger Hotel and had a wonderful dinner at the Barred Owl. After dinner, Adam Brown made a reservation for the group to throw hatchets at COMO Axe attack. What a blast. Columbia is such a great town. We are so happy to celebrate 8 years in our COMO office!
The final holiday event in Terra is the Wisconsin Wireless Association’s Holly Jolly Trolley tour. Milwaukee has the most bars and pubs per capita than any other large American city. What better way to celebrate the holidays than a pub crawl on wheels? Terra’s Rusty Utomo, who serves on the WiWA Board, and Tom Zimmermann were among the trolley faithful and had a wonderful evening in Milwaukee. Proceeds from the event benefited STEP, which stands for “Student Tools for Emergency Planning.” The program is designed to aid fifth graders in disaster and emergency preparedness.
